Our approach to recruitment and selection is competency based. We believe that using a range of selection methods is the key to most effectively identifying the best person for the role.
The selection methods vary depending on the requirements of the role but we often use verbal or numerical reasoning tests (at an appropriate level for the role), work based exercises and practical activities, like group work or role plays. This approach allows candidates to demonstrate their suitability in a variety of different ways, whilst helping us to identify the most suitable person for the post and ensuring equal opportunities throughout the selection process.

To apply please click on the job title of the role you are interested in to view the full advert and information and click on the ‘apply’ button on the top right. You will be asked to log in or register, and then you will be able to start your application.
You can save your application and come back to it by logging in again, but you will need to register, and complete all sections of the application form in order to submit an application.
After you have entered your personal details you will be asked to outline your skills, knowledge and experience in relation to the points outlined in the person specification of the job description. These are broken down for you to respond to in section 2.
When completing this section you should focus on providing evidence and specific examples which demonstrate your suitability for the role you are applying for. For each point you should focus on providing an overview of your skills and experience, and then go on to provide direct examples to clearly evidence how you meet each point. We value transferrable skills and encourage applicants who do not have direct experience to provide examples from other areas that meet the requirements.
Attached is the guidance document on how to complete the supporting statement of your application form.
After you have submitted your application you will receive an email from Networx with confirmation, along with a pdf copy of your application form. After the deadline for the vacancy has passed, applications will be sent over to the hiring managers (with personal details anonymised) to shortlist. Shortlisting is based on a candidates’ responses to the checklist points on the person specification. All candidates will be emailed with an outcome of their application once shortlisting has taken place.
If you are invited for an interview you will be contacted the Resourcing Team with details of the interview date and what will be involved.

After the interview stage you will be contacted by the hiring manager, or a member of the resourcing team, with the outcome.
If you are offered a role at St Mungo’s you will be contacted by the Resourcing team with a conditional offer letter and information on the next steps. All offers are conditional based on receipt of satisfactory references and, where applicable, an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Additionally, in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996, all staff are required to provide documentation to St Mungo’s to evidence their legal right to work in the UK.
