ReVive is our in-house client decorating training company and our key supplier for our annual cyclical decoration programme. ReVive gives homeless people who have completed our painting and decorating programme the chance to work on live contracts in a work based environment.
St Mungo’s has a wide variety of accommodation projects and offices – both small and large. ReVive competes against external contractors to win contracts when projects come up for refurbishment. This means that ReVive must operate like a commercial business and compete for tenders on costs, finish and delivery time.
The project has been extremely successful, generating more that £48,000 profit during 2016-17 due to both internal cyclical decorations and external works.
Over the past 12 months Revive achieved the following results:
- 27 clients have been supported to learn new skills and use their time positively as active participants in the programme. 13 clients started within this period.
- Five trainees gained a job some in the construction trades.
- Four trainees were referred to one of our partners to do outside training to gain a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card at Lewisham College.
The biggest success for the team during 2016-17 was the refurbishment of a three bedroom house in Surrey for the Real Lettings Property Fund. The project team not only had to paint and decorate but also use other construction and maintenance techniques including plastering, tiling, carpentry, loft insulation, gardening and basic landscaping.
