The partnership between Clarion and homelessness charity St Mungo’s will include both fundraising and leveraging shared expertise and resources.
During lockdown, Clarion staff have made gift boxes including toiletries, food and gifts such as jigsaw puzzles, books and games for people being supported by St Mungo’s to self-isolate in a hotel or hostel room, demonstrating how the partnership has adapted to meet changing needs.
A £20,000 donation from Clarion has also enabled St Mungo’s to buy digital devices for homeless people who didn’t have them, to ensure people can continue to access vital services and stay connected during the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.
Steve Douglas, CBE Chief Executive, St Mungo’s said: “We are delighted to announce this new partnership, which will have immediate effect by helping support our clients during the pandemic and thereafter.
“The generous donation will help clients to keep in contact with key workers, health services and family and friends.
“Housing Associations make an important contribution to our work as a homelessness charity. Longer term, we are looking forward to working closely with Clarion to support our mission to end homelessness and rebuild lives.”
Clare Miller, Chief Executive of Clarion Housing Group, said: “Clarion’s history goes back more than 100 years and core to our mission is providing homes to those who are in greatest need and who would otherwise be at risk of homelessness.
“I am thrilled to be working more closely with St Mungo’s to drive fundraising and build a lasting strategic partnership. We have a huge opportunity to work together to tackle homelessness and move people off the streets and into secure homes.”
