North Star

Offering mental health support for people experiencing dual diagnosis difficulties in Bristol.

At North Star we offer mental health support for people experiencing dual diagnosis difficulties.

We work with people who are: homeless or at risk of homelessness (including level 1 & 2 pathway projects/hostels); experiencing co-occurring mental health and drug/alcohol needs (you don’t need a mental health diagnosis to get support); who are not linked in to other services. We aren’t suitable for people who are accessing secondary mental health services who currently have an allocated care coordinator or are engaged in other ongoing support around their mental health.

Our approach

We believe in providing mental health support to our clients wherever they are at on their journey of change. We aim to provide support that is accessible across the varied levels of engagement and stability a client may be experiencing. This includes:

  • Open wellbeing or activity based drop-in groups focussed on relationship building
  • More structured psychoeducation groups focussed on skill building
  • Individual support either in single session drop-ins or structured weekly therapy

Below is a copy of our programme, we will keep it updated as our offer expands:

If you are supporting someone who would like to access our service, you can refer on their behalf by completing this referral form and sending it to the email provided. If you are looking for support for yourself you can self-refer by attending one of our introduction drop-in groups:

  • Intro to the Service Group: Compass Centre, Wednesday 10:30-12:30
  • Wellbeing Group: Compass Centre, Thursday 1-3pm
