Keeping healthy and active

Find out how to register with a GP and tips on how to keep active.

GP Registration

Your Support worker will help you to register with a local GP if you aren’t registered. If you want to do this yourself however, use the NHS website to find your local GP. Once you have found a GP near you, you need to register. There are a couple of ways you can do this:

  • Online – many GPs now have online registration. Find your GP’s website and if they have online registration, simply fill out their form and wait to hear back from them.
  • In person – if you can, you may want to go to your chosen GP and fill in their form in person. Usually the reception staff will be able to help you.

Staying active and healthy

There may be activities in your service, like exercise or cooking groups, which can support you to build a healthy lifestyle.

If you aren’t living in one of our services, speak to your support worker about any local community centres where you can access healthy, balanced meals, or if you are able to, explore resources on on line to help you create balanced meals of your own.

There are also regular walking groups where you can join others from across St Mungo’s. Speak to your support worker for more information.

Our walking groups can be easily set up and are open to everyone at St Mungo’s – clients and colleagues.  You can join one of our existing walking groups or speak to staff in your service to set up your own and join our growing network of walkers!  please get in touch.
